Rules of the Golf Course

Local Rules of Sandy Lane Golf Course

  1. Placing - 30cm on fairways
  2. Please speed up play, repair pitch marks, replace divots and rake bunkers.
  3. Please obey golf cart directions pointers
  4. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult or by special arrangement with management
  5. The golf course is out of bounds to anyone other than golfers and anyone entering the golf course does so at their own risk
  6. Soft spiked golf shoes only
  7. When the siren is rung for a long period, it means that there is lightning and all golfers are instructed to leave the golf course.  Two short sirens mean that golfers may continue with their game.
  8. Playing the 9th hole the first and second fairway is out of bounds.
  9. If your ball is on the putting green and lying against the fringe you may take relief by placing the ball backwards onto the fringe without penalty.
  10. Dress Code:
    • Gentlemen
      • Long pants
      • Short pants with long socks or shorts pants with short white socks
      • Collared golf shirts

    • Ladies
      • Ladies Long pants
      • Short pants or skirts
      • Collared golf shirts

Players shall be under the rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf Course of St Andrews, subject to the following by-laws:

OUT OF BOUNDS
White posts, resident's property and/or where demarcated with white stakes. 

WATER HAZARDS
Demarcated by yellow stakes and/or lines.

LATERAL WATER HAZARDS
Demarcated by red stakes and/or lines

SPRINKLER HEADS/CART PATHS/ROADS

A player is entitled to relief without penalty from sprinkler heads, cart paths and roads.  Nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.

GUR
Demarcated by signage and/or white lines.

DAMAGE TO YOUNG TREES AND SHRUBS
Relief MUST be taken from all staked trees and shrubs.

DISTANCE MARKERS
All distance markers are measured in meters from the back of the tee to the middle of green.

FLOWER BEDS
One free drop from all flower beds within the golf course.  Nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.

MEASURING DEVICES

The use of measuring devices for the measurement of distance only is permitted at Sandy Lane.
